Since its 2013 release, GTA 5 has achieve immense success and kept fans entertained with new content. Similarly, parallel to the next gen console releases for PS and Xbox, GTA 5 will offer expanded and enhanced content. These will be for the next-gen consoles exclusively.
Rockstar has intentionally delayed the release of GTA 6. This is thanks to GTA 5 exceeding revenue expectations and becoming an unprecedented cash cow. Since its original release in 2013, GTA 5 has sold over 130 million copies worldwide. The game reached a billion dollars in sales within just 3 days and has been breaking records since.
The good news is that new weapons, cars and missions will all be part of the exclusive new content coming to next-gen consoles. These will be released mid-2021, alongside or after the game’s Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 debut.
“Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the console’s powerful new hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever,” – Sony Studios explained on their PlayStation blog.
The promise of visual improvements is interesting too. Rockstar have proven that they can do amazing work in this area through the beautiful Red Dead Redemption 2.
