The latest update for GTA Online landed around 5am EST earlier today – and of course we purchased the Kosatka Submarine first to do this review. Most of the new vehicles are in the Warstock store, while there’s a new boat in Docktease.
The highlight of course, is the sub. Called the “Kosatka”, the base price is $2,200,000. The only pre-requisite for purchase is that you meet Miguel Midrazo in The Music Locker.
You might think that’s relatively affordable, but it’s the upgrades that will make a dent in your wallet! With the submarine in your arsenal, you use it to start the Cayo Perico Heist.
If you want all the bells and whistles, it will cost you over $9million.
Tip:
If you aren’t swimming in cash (e.g. budget under $20 million), just get the base submarine without upgrades. We don’t yet know how useful these will be for the heist yet. Remember, the Facility? You needed to buy that for the Doomsday Heist. But you didn’t really need to upgrade the whole thing to improve the Heist experience. In a couple of weeks, we will have a clear idea of what upgrades are useful and what aren’t.
The Kosatka submarine is pretty cool, and we will do a further analysis on that at a later date. Also, unlike the Yacht you can drive it! The Kosatka Submarine can also be destroyed – with an estimated 11-12 rockets. So this makes it more like your own personal vehicle than the Yacht ever was.
Once upgraded, it also has guided missiles, a chopper and a mini-submarine in the moon pool. The homing missiles on their own are a while new experience, where you see through the tip of missile, which has very long range. You can also store the new Toreador here when purchased.
